The Woodturners Gallery
Bill Walzer : http://walzerwoodworks.weebly.com
Bill W has been turning art pieces for decades and has finally decided to make it his day job.
He started by turning the handrail posts when renovating his Victorian home in Berkeley
but quickly moved to bowls which provide him with more creative dimensions.
Bill primarily uses downed wood from the urban forest -
city trees that have fallen or need to be removed for some reason.
If you ever lose a favorite tree give Bill a call so he can make a lovely memory piece out of the trunk.
The grain and shape of a log largely determines the best shape for the resulting piece of turned art.
Bill understands grain and goes with its flow.
Then he enjoys deciding if a piece is going to be straight or curvy or angular or all of the above.
The results show he enjoys collaborating with nature.
